In response to a new K-8 school coming to the Four Corners area, Lake County Schools has proposed changes to the current boundaries for Sawgrass Bay Elementary and Windy Hill Middle. These changes will take effect for the 2021-2022 school year.
Back in the spring the district announced several possible options for splitting up the students between the two schools. A series of town halls were held for parents to voice their opinions. It appears they are pushing for option 6A which splits the Four Corners area between Greater Groves and Westchester on the west side of HWY 27 and Glenbrook and Sunrise Lakes on the east side of HWY 27. This is both for the elementary school and middle school.
You have two more chances to voice your opinion about this plan. A vote for tentative approval is scheduled for 6 p.m. on June 22 and final approval at 6 p.m. on Aug. 10. Both meetings will be held at the District Office, 201 W. Burleigh Blvd., Tavares. They are also accepting questions and input over the phone at 352-253-6693 and via email at [email protected].
