The ballots are set and Lake County residents head to the polls on August 18th for the Primary Election. This election is very important for those of us living in the Four Corners Area, otherwise known as District 1. We are set to elect our next County Commissioner that oversees local decisions for our often under served and over looked area.
Our current Commissioner, Tim Sullivan, is being challenged by Douglas B. Shields. Both gentlemen are Republicans, running with no other candidates against them. Because of this, all political parties will be able to cast their ballots and have a say in who will represent us.
I implore local residents to do some research so that you can make an informed decision come election day. County Commissioners are both lawmaking officers and fiscal representatives of the County. If you are unhappy with the current planning and zoning or infrastructure in our community now is the time to let your voice be heard.
The last day to register to vote if you haven’t already is July 20th. This is also the last day to change your party affiliation. Early voting takes place August 6-15th from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. You must vote at your assigned precinct on election day which is August 18th from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
