The holidays are right around the corner
It is the beginning of November which means Thanksgiving is knocking on our door, and Christmas is right around the corner. I don’t know if you experience the same, but every year as I head into the holiday season I tend to fill my already busy schedule with more, and then I get overwhelmed. Every year I vow to make a change so that I can enjoy the holiday season too. And as if the normal holiday stress wasn’t enough, this year we have the added stress of celebrating during Covid. Whatever your traditions are and however you plan to celebrate, I hope you find ways to unplug and make some lasting memories with the ones you cherish.
Weather Report:
Avalon connector Update:
I think we all got excited when we saw the construction and completion of Sawgrass Bay Blvd. to the Orange County line. It turns out the project is more complicated than we originally thought and may not be done before January 1, 2026. We learned that we were waiting on the widening of Avalon Rd. before Orange County would begin work on the Flemings connector to Avalon. Unfortunately the Avalon widening project was supposed to be done in June and has since been delayed for another 10 months or so. In happier news I did notice that the Lake County Commissioners did approve a roundabout that will be installed once the Orange County side finishes the construction of Flemings. For more information and a concept drawing of the roundabout click here.
Volunteer opportunity
For a couple of years now my daughters and I have been volunteering at Give Kids the World which is an organization that provides a trip of a lifetime for critically ill children. Unfortunately during Covid they had to close their doors with no opening date in sight. This Christmas season they are holding a fundraiser and transforming their village into a Winter Wonderland. Whether you can sign up for a volunteer shift or two or you just want to purchase tickets and enjoy a night out…every little bit helps. For more information, visit their website.

Did you know?
When you sell your home during the holidays, you will face less competition, find more serious buyers, and may even be up for a quicker sales process. It also presents a unique opportunity to create a warm and cozy environment that you can’t present during the spring or summer months.
34714 Sales Stats
In September of 2020 (October stats were not available at the time of press) we saw 48 houses close (up 11% from September 2019) and 60 new listings (up 20% from last month). The average sales price was $294,598 (up 17%) and on average it took 11 days to get a new listing under contract which was a 50% shorter than last month at 23 days. The data doesn’t lie. Houses are closing faster and at above the average sales price compared to this time last year.
Construction Update
Have you noticed a lingering smell of smoke in the Four Corners Area lately? With construction in the beginning stages of two new communities in our area it is hard to escape the thick haze that clearing out land creates. One of the new developments contributing to this is one that I reported on back in August. As you can see from these photos taken last week, Phase 3 of Pulte Homes’ 298 lots is well under way. It was just 5 months ago that my husband and I rode through the area on our bikes and gazed out over cow pastures. Now the area has definitely taken on a new look. You have to wonder though, how long until we pave over all of natural Florida?
